Atelier Article’s metal bookmarks are laser-cut from thin 0.6 mm steel — light and flexible, so they lie flat between the pages and mark the spot with a small scene worth returning to. Choose from 450+ designs — animals, birds, cats, zodiac signs, literary and seasonal themes — by what the reader loves, not by the occasion. Every one is cut and hand-finished in our own workshop in Cherkasy, Ukraine, where we have made them since 2011. Two formats. Standard and Large are both 17 cm (6.7 in) long; Large carries a bigger silhouette above the page and costs a little more. Most designs are matte black steel; some are powder-coated red, gold, green or pink — use the Colour filter. Every bookmark arrives tied to a wooden block printed “Reading is good for you”, in a kraft envelope, so it is ready to give as it is.
Want a name or a date on it? Add engraving on the wooden block from any product page. Need a silhouette we do not have — a logo, a pet, a family joke? Custom and personalized metal bookmarks are quoted per design. For 10 to 500+ pieces for a book club, a school or corporate gifts, write to us before ordering.

How do metal bookmarks stay in place?
Each design includes a hook or clip formed into the steel that grips the page edge when the book is closed. The bookmark sits flush against the spine rather than sticking out at a random angle — it stays anchored when the book is in a bag or on a shelf. No magnets, no moving parts, no fiddling.
What is the difference between Standard and Large bookmarks?
Both are 17 cm (6.7 in) long and cut from the same 0.6 mm steel. Large designs have a bigger silhouette — the part that shows above the page — so they read well on a thick hardcover; Standard silhouettes are smaller and sit neatly on a paperback. The format is listed on each product page and in the Format filter.
Are metal bookmarks good as gifts?
Yes. Every bookmark is tied to a decorative wooden block printed with ‘Reading is good for you,’ then placed in a kraft envelope. The presentation is ready for teacher gifts, book clubs, birthdays, graduations, and other occasions.
Can I order metal bookmarks in bulk?
Yes. We fulfil bulk orders from 10 to 500+ pieces with no additional lead time for standard designs. Contact us before ordering to confirm availability and discuss packaging preferences — some bulk customers request unboxed pieces for their own gift packaging. There are no minimum order quantities for most designs.
Can the metal bookmark itself be engraved?
The steel bookmark itself is not engraved. You can add a personalised name, date or short message to the wooden presentation block with our wooden block engraving add-on. For a fully custom bookmark silhouette, request custom work; feasibility, price and lead time are confirmed before ordering.
Do metal bookmarks damage books?
Not in the ordinary case — and no, metal bookmarks are not bad for books when they are thin, flat and smooth-edged. Ours are laser-cut from 0.6 mm steel — a little thinner than a bank card — deburred and powder-coated, so a flat marker sits inside a closed book without leaving a mark. Trouble comes from shape, not material: a pointed cutout, a raised clip that pinches, or a silhouette wider than a slim paperback. Check three things before buying any bookmark: smooth edges, no sharp points that catch, and a silhouette no wider than the book it goes into.
